What is a Power Dialer?
This product is designed for one or more live agents, each calling on one telephone line. Each agent wears a headset in front of his or her computer screen. To begin calling, the agent just clicks with a mouse to start the automated dialing. The power dialer calls the first telephone number in the list and the agent’s screen pops up with any information available about that person or company. The agent will hear the phone ringing and how it is answered. If a live person answers, the agent can speak to the person and add or change information as needed on the screen. After the conversation is finished, the agent can click a button to classify the results of the call, then the Power Dialer will automatically call the next telephone number in the list. If there is a busy signal or no answer, it automatically hangs up and calls the next number. If the agent gets an answering machine or voice mail, he or she can click to hang up and call the next person or click to leave one of your pre-recorded messages. This saves the agent from having to say the same thing over and over. Power Dialers can be operated independently by each agent or all the agents can be networked to share the same telephone lists.

What is an Auto Dialer?
This is a product that uses a computer and one or more telephone lines to automatically call lists of telephone numbers to deliver your pre-recorded messages to live answers and to answering machines or voice mail. You do not have to be involved while it is calling; however, some Auto Dialers have the ability to play your message, then ask the person called to press zero if they want to speak to someone. The Auto Dialer then calls your telephone at any location and connects you to that person so you can talk.

What is a Predictive Dialer?
This product is designed for one or more live agents calling on multiple telephone lines. The agents wear a headset in front of their computer screens. When ready to begin calling, the agent (or supervisor, if there are multiple agents) clicks to start the Predictive Dialer. Multiple telephone lines begin calling the telephone numbers in your list. The agents will not hear the phone ringing or how it is answered. The Predictive Dialer will determine how the calls are answered. If a live person answers, one of the agents will hear a beep in their headset and any information about that person or company will pop up on that agent’s screen. The agent then says “Hello, this is…” and talks to that person. After the conversation is finished, the agent will be ready to receive another call. Other agents are also receiving calls at the same time. When the Predictive Dialer reaches a busy signal or no answer, it automatically hangs up and dials more telephone numbers. If the Predictive Dialer detects an answering machine or voice mail, the supervisor can set whether the system should hang up, leave a pre-recorded message, or connect to a live agent.
